As we sit and watch two of the world’s silliest and most powerful men break-up over twitter like the whiny little bitches they are, I feel almost like the cinematic fiction I’ve been buried in this week is more real than our present shared reality.
A ballet-dancing assassin toasting dozens of bad guys with a flame thrower? Gimme some of that!
Ballerina spearheads the expansion of the Wick-i-Verse and she pirouettes into cinemas across the globe this weekend with Ana de Armas in the lead role as our titular Ballerina. John Wick has of course already cornered the murdered pet revenge market so what will Ballerina bring?
We also hang ten with Nic Cage getting his crazy on in Cannes favourite from last year: The Surfer. And I dug this bonkers film far more than I thought I would!
For my reviews of both those New Releases from the TVNZ Breakfast sofa, a simple click below will take you there…
If that’s not nearly enough Ana de Armas for you.. here’s my fun Zoom chat with the Ballerina herself alongside director Len Wiseman. Their chat about the day on set with Keanu as they shot the awesome smackdown between Wick and Eve is very very cool! And THANK YOU Lionsgate and Matter Publicity for the access :)
The Intrepid French Film Festival is well underway across the country - congrats to our Projector festival freebies winners from last week too - Maureen, Steve, Sara, Janine and Tara - thanks for being in to win!
I cried my eyes out of their sockets during My Brother’s Band and LOVED Jane Austen Wrecked My Life so add those two to your must-see lists please :) Head to the festival website to book ‘em up!
SHE’S HERE, SHE’S THERE, SHE’S EVERY-FUCKING-WHERE KATE RODGER!
It’s been a rather busy joyous week of banging on about bingeing and mouthing off about movies and across the mediums! 🍿📽️
Winter Warmers went to air with Paddy Gower on RNZ - a good time juicy half hour mash-up chat diving into the best shows we’re streaming at the moment - love my Paddy chats!
I also jumped onto Afternoons with Jesse Mulligan for my usual arvo review chat with the always entertaining and erudite Mr Mulligan.
Then I finished the week on The Breeze! They have an annual Blockbuster 50 Countdown where their audience up and down the country vote for their favourite movie songs - how GOOD! I joined the marvellous Mike Puru, The Breeze Drive host and all round top bloke to help count ‘em down, peppering the show will plenty of interview and red carpet soundbites from over the years and honestly I had an absolute ball 📻 🎙️
That’s more than enough from me I reckon! Thanks always for your Projector support and for reading my ramblings - I love my fab film fam 💘🎬
And remember… John wasn't exactly 'The Boogeyman.' He was the one you sent to kill the fucking Boogeyman.
KRxxx
Whiny little bitches :) hehehe Stephen Colbert had an awesome burn this week saying something similar!! I think Im up for 'The Surfer' after all it is Nick Cage. I have to say I did see Captain America A Brave New World for the first time and I'm glad i didn't waste hard earned $ seeing it on the big screen. It was just shite, Fords still awesome but the rest, kaka. Not sure why i mentioned this, but good to get it off my chest!!! :) thank you for your service
Must take in some of the FFF!
